Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before placing a reservation. By submitting a reservation through the Vaya Systems website, you agree to these terms.

1. About Vaya Display

The Vaya Display is an independent maker project created and operated by Chris Ambrose, compatible with the Octopus Energy Cosy Heat Pump. The Vaya Display is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of Octopus Energy or any of its subsidiaries. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

2. Nature of a reservation

Placing a reservation secures your place in a production batch. It is not a purchase and no payment is taken at the reservation stage. You will be contacted separately when your batch is ready to proceed to deposit or payment.

A reservation does not constitute a binding contract of sale. You may cancel your reservation at any time before a deposit is requested by emailing hello@vayasystems.com.

3. Batches and dispatch estimates

Orders are grouped into numbered production batches. Dispatch dates shown on the order status page are estimates only and may change due to component availability, manufacturing timelines, or other unforeseen circumstances. I will notify you by email if your estimated dispatch date changes significantly.

4. Pricing

Any prices displayed on the website are indicative. Final pricing will be confirmed when your batch is ready for the deposit stage. You will have the opportunity to accept or decline before any payment is requested.

5. Delivery

Delivery is currently available to UK addresses only. Delivery details provided at reservation are used for planning purposes; you will be asked to confirm your delivery address before dispatch.

6. Product specifications

The Vaya Display is a hand-assembled maker product. Specifications, features, and software functionality may change between reservation and dispatch. Any material changes will be communicated to reservation holders.

Software updates are provided on a best-efforts basis. Continued future software support is not guaranteed beyond the date of purchase.

7. Third-party API dependence

The Vaya Display depends on the Octopus Energy API to retrieve data and control your heating system. At the time of delivery, the API is functional and the product will meet the specifications described. However, Octopus Energy may modify, restrict, or discontinue access to the API at any time after delivery without notice.

If the API is restricted or changes after you receive the product: Octopus Energy's API changes are beyond the Vaya Display's control. Chris Ambrose shall not be liable for any loss of functionality or reduced performance caused by Octopus Energy restricting, modifying, or discontinuing API access after delivery. This includes:

  • Inability to retrieve real-time data from your heat pump
  • Loss of remote control features
  • Any other functionality dependent on the Octopus Energy API

Where technically possible, I will provide software updates to work around API changes or restrictions. However, if Octopus Energy restricts or removes API functionality, you will not be entitled to a refund solely because of the API change.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected: If the product itself is defective, damaged, or does not match the description provided at the time you received it, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full — see section 11 below.

8. Compatibility

The Vaya Display is designed for use with the Octopus Energy Cosy Heat Pump system. It is your responsibility to verify compatibility with your specific setup before proceeding to purchase. I am happy to answer compatibility questions by email.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Chris Ambrose shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the product or this website. Liability for direct loss shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the product.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Cancellations and refunds

If you wish to cancel an order after a deposit or payment has been made, the following terms apply:

  • Before dispatch: A 50% refund will be issued. The remaining 50% covers materials and production costs already committed to your order.
  • After delivery: You may request a return within 14 days of receiving your unit. The unit must be returned in its original condition, with any included accessories. Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty or not as described.
  • Faulty goods: If your unit is faulty, damaged in transit, or not as described, your statutory rights apply in full — see below.

11. Consumer rights

If you are a consumer in the UK, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable legislation are not affected by these terms. In particular, nothing in these terms limits your right to a repair, replacement, or refund for goods that are faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
